The National Agency for Employment recruits a shift manager for a company specialized in port handling.


-Ensure compliance with the policies, operating procedures and security on the terminal;
-Ensure that ships and other personnel response locations are inspected to ensure safe working conditions;
-Ensure that recognized safe working practices are utilized for all terminal operations and maintain effective implementation of safety
policies and procedures;
-Liaise between the operations management and the executive staff;
-Manage, motivate and instruct all operational team members, set priorities and structure tasks and goals;
-Provide effective organization and control of all terminal operations during designated shift period in order to meet planned objectives;
-Coordinate terminal planning and operations to ensure effective ship working programs are set and maintained to ensure vessels
-Liaise with engineering department to maximize equipment availability and effectiveness;
-Utilization of equipment resources to match the operational requirements of the terminal;
-Provide first line of response for emergency situations and damage assessments;
-Assist in the development of staff to ensure they perform at efficient and effective levels by monitoring performance and taking
appropriate action in order to ensure they reach their full potential;
-Ensure the optimization of all special operations (refrigerated, dangerous, oversized containers, container leaks, etc.);
-Attend operational meetings, direct investigations (complaints, damages, incidents, accidents, etc.), produce reports and notifications
without delay, faithfully and objectively with proposals for management solution.


minimum Bac +4 in port logistics, industrial engineering, or equivalent


-Have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in supervision or team management in the port area (preferably on stevedoring);
-Master the computer tools (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, TOPO, TOPX ...);
-Be able to interpret all vessels’ documentation;
-Have a good understanding of vessel priorities and completion times of operations;
-Being able to work in 12 hours of day, night, weekends and holidays;
-Use the right technology to conduct the operations;
-Be proactive with a good Leadership style;
-Being able to manage a large group of workers from various operational sections;
-Be enterprising and open-minded;
-Have a good analytical capacity,
-Have good negotiation skills;
-Have good moral probity;
-Good physical fitness and good visual acuity;
-Good communicator;
-Hold a category B driving license (at least) Languages proficiency: Fluent in both English and French.
